In August 2021, Lisa Quinn O’Flaherty joined John Redmond as a partner at Fitzsimons Redmond. Lisa becomes the first female partner in the firm’s 53 year history. She joined the firm in 2015, and is the lead for the firm’s participation in both the Law Society’s Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Charter and the Professional Wellbeing Charter, and constantly seeks to make improvements to the way we work.
Lisa is qualified also as a solicitor in Northern Ireland and in England and Wales. She holds an LL.B in Irish Law from the University of Wales, as well as H.Certs in Media, in Technology Law and in Data Protection, a Prof.Dip in Leadership and a Prof.Dip in Arbitration from UCD. Lisa has vast experience in all our practice areas, holding a particular passion for employment law, commercial law and dispute resolution. Lisa was a finalist in a number categories of the Irish Law Awards, and in the Lawyer of the Year category of the Early Career Awards, has published many legal articles, and works with a number of charities and community organisations in her spare time.
Lisa will continue to lead the dispute resolution practice at the firm, working alongside her partner John Redmond who has been with the firm since 1980 and a partner since 1984. John will continue to lead the conveyancing and commercial property practices, and together we will continue to look after our many clients.
As of 20th December 2021 Fitzsimons Redmond has been authorised to operate as and is operating as a Limited Legal Practice or LLP, and going forward will be known as Fitzsimons Redmond LLP.
This means that each of the partners is protected by limited liability, in the same way as though we were operating a limited company (solicitors are prohibited from forming a company). The partners will have no personal liability for the debts, liabilities or obligations of the business of the LLP (whether these are liabilities of the LLP, of himself or herself, of another partner or partners in the LLP or of any employee, agent or representative of the LLP) however such liability may arise. This only relates to personal liability and does not prevent the enforcement against the property of the LLP of any debt, liability or obligation.
It also means that our business will be governed only by the Partnership Act 1890 only insofar as it is not inconsistent with Chapter 3 of Part 8 of the Legal Services Regulation Act 2015.
As well as being registered with the Law Society, we are also registered as an LLP with the Legal Services Regulatory Authority, and remain liable should we act fraudulently or dishonestly. We remain governed by the Solicitors Acts, the Law Society of Ireland and the Legal Services Regulatory Authority. We also have the same professional indemnity insurance coverage in place.
If you have any questions about our new business structure or if you wish to contact us for any reason at all, please feel free to contact Lisa or John.
Lisa can be contacted at lisa@fitzsimonsredmond.ie and John can be contacted at jredmond@fitzsimonsredmond.ie. Our phone number remains 01 676 3257, and we remain at our office at 6 Clanwilliam Terrace, Grand Canal Quay, Dublin 2.
We would also like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very merry Christmas, and a safe, peaceful and prosperous new year.
