We have been advising clients for over 50 years, since 1968 when Michael Fitzsimons took over the practice of George Colley on his being appointed a Government Minister. Michael built the practice steadily as Michael Fitzsimons & Co, and gained prominence, particularly representing a number of insurance companies in defence litigation. Throughout the 1980s, the practice developed its commercial and property reputation, practicing as Fitzsimons Smyth & Company, with Noel Smyth and later, as Fitzsimons Briger & Company, when it was affiliated to the international law firm, Briger & Company.
John Redmond joined the firm in 1980 and became a partner in 1984 when the firm began to practice as Fitzsimons Briger & Company. In 1995 the firm became known as Fitzsimons Redmond. In 2010 Michael Fitzsimons retired from the firm and John Redmond continued as principal.
In 2021, Lisa Quinn O’Flaherty became the firm’s first female partner. She and John Redmond work together to deliver the high standard of legal services that our clients have come to expect over the past 50 years.
On 20th December 2021, we began operating as a limited legal partnership and became known as Fitzsimons Redmond LLP. In 2023, we were winners of the Law Firm Innovation Award at the Irish Law Awards. In 2024 we were awarded the Irish Law Awards Prize for Diversity and Inclusion, and the Solicitor’s Growth Trailblazer Award for Innovation.
